ToRS and the Nobel Prize Winner

On October 26th, Turkish author and Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk was at KU to receive the Sonning Prize, Denmark's most prestigious cultural award. And ToRS was there in strength! Not only was ToRS present at the award ceremony and the following gala dinner; it was because of ToRS that Pamuk won the prize.

How so? Ildiko Beller-Hann penned the text recommending him for the prize and it was Ildiko who also held the laudatio at the ceremony. Daniella Kuzmanovic contributed actively to both texts (and Denise Gimpel added a comma or two).

Thus all three colleagues were invited not only to the ceremony and dinner but also to a small reception in the rektor’s office immediately before the ceremony. Further representatives from ToRS at either award ceremony or dinner (or both) were Ingolf Thuesen, Morten Warmind, Steven McPhillips, Paul Wordsworth and Peter Damgaard.

On the Thursday afternoon prior to the ceremony, Daniella together with Marie-Louise Svane (IKK) organized a very well-attended, well-received and informative session of 'Conversations with Orhan Pamuk' at KUA.

All in all an intense meeting with Pamuk and his world and a success story for ToRS.
