Main research fields are the development and organisation of urban societies in the ancient Near East and Africa, cultural encounters and heritage management.
Director of the Danish Archaeological Expedition to Iraq (DAEI), which investigates the world’s earliest urban societies in Mesopotamia and assists in monitoring and protecting archaeological heritage in Iraq.
