In this paper, I showed how scientific knowledge from the fields of psychology and psychiatry is incorporated into Danish Muslim women’s Islamic knowledge construction and in the work to establish strong and resilient Muslim subjects.
I described how psychological and psychiatric knowledge can be invoked to work on the spiritual capacity of the human, just as the spiritual constitution of the individual influences her wellbeing.
Specific conceptions about the human constitution are articulated in relation to this. I argued that these have implications for the way we can understand and analyse the formation of subjectivity and agency, and that we might perceive of agency as something that is distributed and becomes articulated in specific intra-actions that include also otherworldly agents such as God.
